Why is this method now considered to be the most successful in modern implantology? Does it have any signs? Basal implants are inserted in the base of mandibular bone, the biological processes, which occur in it, do not cause atrophy of the bone tissue in the absence of the tooth. Thus the main advantage of basal implantation it in cases when bone augmentation is difficult after resorption, as well as in cases when the long-term absence of several teeth has caused strong atrophy of the osseous base of the gums.

Types of Basal Implants
There are two kinds of basal implants, BOI (Basal Osseo Integrated) and BCS (Basal Cortical Screw) the hard cortical bone. Screwable basal implants have been developed with a thread diameter of up to 12 mm for insertion into quick extraction sockets.
The jaw bone is made of two individual components, the alveolus which carries the teeth – called as the crestal part – and the basal bone. Because the bone is less dense in the crestal part, it is likely to get diseases from injuries, iatrogenic factors, and airborne pathologies. Related to the crestal bone the basal bone is heavy and solid because it has undergone cortication. This means that the basal bone is less likely to resorptions and infections.
Because they are well corticated, basal bones offer enough support to implants while offering increased load bearing capacity than the spongy crestal bone.
There are four main types of basal implants; these include screw forms which use a compression screw design, disk forms that are useful at externally threaded connections, plate forms with their BOI-BAC Implants and tuberopterygoid (TPG) implants.
